A Year of Poetry by Amanda Paweska
EMPTY
An empty void
Now exists
Where my heart once was
Your touch, heart
And kiss
Are now what
I miss
I awake
You're no longer close
I remember
The times you were
Now cold and empty
Like this room
Where we once
Shared our souls
FORGET HIM
Forget him,
is what they say
Over and Over
like an unstoppable recording
Telling me to
forget him, move on
from him
is like telling
the tide not to come in
forgetting him
is telling my heart
to stop beating
forget him
impossible
How do I forget
all I love
I CRY
I sit alone
As my tears fall
Their heat
Burn my cheeks
As they sop
Into my pillow
They are
My only comfort
On these
Lonely nights
When I cry
For you
