Give me a reason to believe that you're gone
I can see your shadow so I know they're all wrong
Moonlight on the soft brown earth
It leads me to where you lay
They took you away from me but now I'm taking you home
Jade McKnight clawed at the ground. Another random, dumb Springwood bitch had gone and killed her Freddy in the real world. Those stupid sluts who think that burying the Dream Demon was enough to stop him. At the most it was a delay…but to Jade that was like death. Any time away from her beloved obsession was too much.
So here she was, kneeling on the cold, wet ground of a makeshift cemetery, the middle of some abandoned property, clawing at the freshly made mound of dirt, her dead flesh flaking off in her frantic efforts.
“I’m coming Freddy-dearest” she told the dirt hole. Cringing as she remembered how he had warned her about that. But it wasn’t really a warning when someone backhands you…but she always deserved it. She just never learned.
I'll be forever here with you
My love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on
She never knew what was best for her. That’s why Freddy always had to tell her, and he was always right. Like taking that flying leap off the school roof. That was the right thing to do. Freddy had told her…not with words, but had shown her. He had shown her the beauty of death and bliss of decay. The wonderful world between life and death – in dreams. This was where everything was perfect. They were together forever there.
He had wanted her there, with him. He had taken her into his world…accepted the small teenager as a plaything. He had told her.
Some say I'm crazy for my love, oh my love
But no bonds can hold me from your side, oh my love
They don't know you can't leave me
They don't hear you singing to me
But Katherine and Nancy had both tried telling her she needed help. They even tried to tear them apart. Saying that it wasn’t real love between them. Everyone always thought she needed help, but she didn’t. She wasn’t some stupid, hopeless girl. She didn’t need anyone’s help but his. Because she knew he loved her. Just like she loved him. It wasn’t an illusion, or teen-fantasy. It was real. It was real when she landed headfirst into that car…it was real when he cut into her flesh…it was real when he disembowelled her. Oh, it was real.
She had a perfect image in her head of what their short-term reunion was going to be like. He would thank her, hold her and reward her – in the only way he could. That raspy, gritty voice would praise her. The thought made the girl smile, he would be so proud of her...
I'll be forever here with you
My love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on
Digging through the murky dirt she found her love – the real world remains of him. Crawling into the ditch she pulled him out; a mutilated corpse, tattered clothes, all burned and covered in holy water. The living’s futile attempt. Blood tears streaked down her pale cheeks at the poor burial he was given. He deserved so much more then that. He was…is a god. Jade collected the relics, embracing them to her chest. Her bloodless lips kissed the blackened skull, a mix of dirt, soot and slick scarlet covering her face.
The scene was something of only epic tragedies: The lonely girl crying over her dead lover, her devotion only growing. Only here death was shared by both of them. And it was far from the end to anything. Death, here, was the beginning of everything between them.
And I can't love you anymore than I do
The articles began twitching and moving on their own accord. The zombie girl watched in morbid fascination as he slowly started to pull himself together. His own regeneration process taking shape. Even without Jade’s help the Nightmare Stalker would have been out of the shallow grave in a matter of time.
He rose to his full height, only slightly worse for wear, and pissed. Replacing the ratty old fedora onto his head he glared at the zombie girl seated at his feet.
“Jade,” he snarled, grabbing onto her glass laden scalp and pulling her to her feet, “Where did I tell you to STAY?” he spat.
Swallowing hard she stared at him with wide, blood-red eyes, “In…in the dream world.”
He nodded at this. At least she had gotten something right. “And you didn’t listen…”
She shook her head slowly, knowing what was coming. She hadn’t learned. She had to be taught. With all the force his resurrected self could produce he threw the girl against a near by rock, cracking her already dead skull.
The zombie girl accepted her punishment. She had deserved it…and he only did it out of love. And taking it was how she proved it.
