CAN YOU STILL

Shots that echo
through the night;
haunt across
the decades.
Can you still hear
the scream?
It still wakes me.

Scarlet that spills
on the pavement;
flows down
into days.
Can you still see
the flood?
It still drowns me.

Screams that break
in the silence;
fill up
the dark.
Can you still listen
to the cry?
It still scares me.

Tears that flow
down their faces;
roll on
through ages.
Can you still taste
the drops?
It still breaks me.

Loss that lingers
in all history;
rips through
the memory.
Can you still feel
the pain?
It still kills me.
